I am phenomenally excited to be attending BritMums Live for the first time this year. I’ve had my ticket booked for months, I’ve arranged my accommodation and I’ve just about sorted out my train tickets. I am sadly lacking in sponsorship (not for lack of trying) but I’ve arranged to meet up with several lovely ladies, I’ve picked the workshops that I want to attend and I just might be attending the awards ceremony with so many other bloggers that I admire.
I started blogging six months ago and if you’d told me then that this blog would be viewed thousands of times by readers from six out of the seven continents then quite honestly I wouldn’t have believed you.
If you’d then told me that not only would people read my blog but that it would be shortlisted for a national award I would probably have politely inquired whether you’d confused me with someone else.
I’m going to use this opportunity to ask (if you haven’t already) to consider voting for me in the ‘Fresh Voice’ category. I would dearly lovely to make the final shortlist and so be granted an invitation to the awards ceremony, regardless of whether I win.
You can vote for me (or anyone else shortlisted) by using the link below.
Name: Louise aka BlopMamma (confusing fact, my name isn’t actually Louise but it’s the name I write under. If I meet you at BritMums I promise I’ll tell you my real name).
Twitter ID: @23weeksocks
Height: About 5’2, I rarely wear heels although I will dig out a pair to wear with my pretty dress if I make the shortlist to g to the awards ceremony!!
Hair: Shoulder length brown/blonde, usually messy as I can rarely be faffed with putting it up.
Eyes: Green/orange (honestly) but you’re unlikely to be able to tell due to my Jasper Conran glasses.
Is this your first blogging conference?: It is, I’m very excited. I’ve been promised I’ll meet all sorts interesting people and that there will be loads of freebies 🙂
Are you attending both days?: Yes, I’m staying overnight with some friends in Greenwich who are very kindly letting me sleep in their living room so that I can save on accommodation costs. I used to live in London so I’ve dug out my trusty Oyster card but I’m sure it won’t take long before I remember how much I hate the tube.
What are you wearing?: I pretty much live in dresses so it’ll be a casual dress, a cardi if it’s cold and a pair of flat sandals or boots (depending on the weather).
What are you most looking forward to at BritMums Live 2015?: I’m really excited about being able to finally put some faces to names and meet people who I feel that I know really well but I only every really interact with through blogging.
What do you hope to gain from BritMums Live 2015?: I really hope to come away with some fresh ideas for my blog, some new friends, a shed load of freebies and possibly an award!!
Do you have any tips to pass on to others who may not have been before?: Although I’ve never been to BritMums Live before I’ve been given various tips by some blogging veterans including, plan which workshops you want to attend before you arrive, bring a pair of flat shoes, take business cards if you have them and make time to meet or catch up with others rather than just hoping you’ll ‘see them there.’
So if you think you’ve spotted me at BritMums Live then please do come over and say hello. I can be a bit nervous and uncertain when faced with large groups of people I don’t know but I promise I’ll be friendly.
